Molly
What FTP programme should I use.

Hi

I have a problem on my server; I have used up all of the available space disk space, all 1.2 gig worth. Now the problem is I haven't got a clue where it has gone. I'm running quite a few sites and tool on the server but none of them are that big and 1.2 gig should be more than enough.

What I need to do is figure out what is using up all the disk space. Now if I was doing this on my PC I would do a search and order it by file size so I figure out quickly what the problem was. Is their anyway I can do that through a FTP programme? Presently I use WiseFTP but that’s only because I got it for free with a magazine. What does every body else use, is their anything better I could get my hands on, I don't even mind paying.

try ipswitch.com

perhaps, you can checked on your admin panel. 1+ gig is too much for a newly created site..

WS-FTP is an old standby. One of the really good programs around. It's to File Transport Protocal as WinZip is to zip files!

SmartFT
FileZilla
SendTo FT (right-click access)
LeechFT
LeechFTP is no longer updated or supported because the author is working on the next generation software called Bitbeamer.

That's a really good one too.
There is also a web-based app called net2ftp. I tried to provide examples of each. Free, paid, web and open source.

I'm using AceFTP here. Best FTP program that I've seen, just that you need to signup for it even though it's free. :P

I use SmartFTP. I recently noticed you can just drag files to the FTP interface and it uploads them - I didn't noticed this before All those hours I wasted extracting information and making new folders etc...
