Yahoo buys Flickr - to test YPN ads?

It has finally been confirmed that Flickr has been bought by Yahoo!, after a month or so of endless speculation. The interesting thing is that Flicker features Google AdSense ads on their site. Will Flickr become a beta test site for the new Yahoo Publisher Network (YPN)? It wouldn't make sense for a Yahoo-owned property to continue running AdSense ads when they have their own competing program available.

YPN sucks. They're not content-sensitive-enough.

When I saw this topic, I thought "whoa, did I miss something". Then I realised it's over a year old.
YPN only "sucks" because it's not very widely adopted yet. For example, only users in America can use it at the moment.

Anyways, it's weird buying Flickr only for testing ads.. i wouldn't do that, but Yahoo! MIGHT have more money for such actions than me. haha

flickr is something used by many people all day long. it's a community based website and these are incredibly important. The more time you spend in a place and the more additions there are to the services the more likely you are to stay with them.

They're still finding the right model to make money and be profitable.

I like flickr.
