Google owns yahoo. So, will a yahoo video potentially increase my SEO?

For example, if I host the video at youtube and embed it on my site, does google notice that? Does google notice if the video gets 5,000 hits at youtube? Or does it all depend on whether or not I am able to funnel traffic from my youtube video to my website?

I think he meant to say "youtube" from his question, which is actually a good one. I don't know that google does notice "viral" campaigns in that sense, although enough people have tried it and probably gotten traffic.

No, I don't think viral works like that. Creating good viral content is a much better way to simply get your brand name out there.

But, there is a right and a wrong way to do it. Take a look at Entrepreneurial Insights from the Great Mind of Gary Busey - Presented by GotVMail -- this is a site the company gotvmail set up for their "viral" commercials with gary busey. It's a url that points back to their domain with the videos hosted on it. That's a good example of a way to capitalize on viral content -- host at youtube, embed on your own site.
