Didn't it? I remember when I used Yahoo search it would say "powered by Google" but now it says "powered by HP". What happened?

Yes, from what i remember... Yahoo Search was powered by Google.

I dont know when they changed from Google. I dont know what made Yahoo change from Google.

Things change just like that in the world of the internet. Its hard to know whats going to change and what is going to stay.

Yes, Yahoo used Google up until about a month ago and then they switched to their own search bot (powered by Inktomi/HP I believe).

Yknow what I think

Hers my very invented story

Google Powered Yahoo for many many long times until one day.... google just said.. hmm.. imagine if we had email, GMAIl! And now its all about Gmail and Gmail and Gmail, then yahoo said.. their powering our search but they are competing with us so more people use gmail, suddenly they said, yknow what! well get our own search! since you all are just trying to beat all emails, and they actually are doing it since now everyone wants gmail, and soon ull say.. what was hotmail again? wasnt yahoo the one powered by google? ....hmm.. i cant even remember.. hehe well Thats happening right now, i guess... interesting, isnt it.. hehe

WELL! BTW! thats what I just invented a funny little story, hehe i think they probably got a problem or something... dont think my story really happened, be kool though Razz

hehe

I believe that Yahoo switched before Gmail was known of (I believe April 1st to be the weirdest day for it to become known to the public..) didn't it?

Who bought Overture? I can't remember. I thought that Yahoo did, or was it Lycos, or MSN?

Yahoo bought out Inktomi and ever since then have been tweaking with it's algo to provide the best search possible.

I have to say, when you look at #1 keyword on Google compared to a #1 keyword on Yahoo I get 80% more traffic from Google than Yahoo.

The problem with Yahoo and MSN is that they have gone away from being a traditional search engine, and now provide too many other services and products that no one thinks about using them to search the internet.

This is one of the things I think Google has to becareful of with Gmail that it doesn't turn into a Yahoo providing dating, cars for sale, chat and etc. IMO this will be the end of Google if they went down this line.
