I got a letter today
It was filled with love and care
I got a letter today
My entire platoon made me share
I got a letter today
Three pictures and purfume spray
I got a letter today
I love you, what else can I say
I got a letter today
Telling me everything was fine
I got a letter today
Saying that she was no longer mine
I got a letter today
I thought my whole life went wrong
I got a letter today
But my letter started of, "dear john"

yea, dear john letters would not be very nice to recieve. Especially when you have a soldier who has to cope with surviving a war, and then recieves a dear john letter, stating that their girlfriend/wife is leaving them. I imagine morale would drop quite a bit! _________________

Yah they happen all the time over there though...Girls (I'm saying girls cause I'm with a grunt unit that's all guys, I'm sure some girls get them as wel.)But anyways girls can't seem to wait the 7-14 months for their guy to get back. I've seen it way too many times. _________________ Sometimes I get the urge to run around naked....then I drink some windex and it keeps me from streaking. |

Basically.
I never got one(hense me still saying I love my wife lol)
but I had to deal with alot of my men getting screwed over. It hurts to watch because you never really know who's next inline for a heartbreak. Granted I never really worried about it, but I think that had alot to do with the fact I was a leader for them. I would probably lose hope if my CIC started breaking down. _________________

Take a look at following letter.
Best Break-Up Letter Ever
A soldier stationed in Afghanistan recently received a letter from his
girlfriend back home. It read as follows:
Dear Ricky,
I can no longer continue our relationship. The distance between us is
just too great. I must admit that I have cheated on you twice, since
you've been gone, and it's not fair to either of us.
I'm sorry.
Please return the picture of me that I sent to you.
Love, Becky..............
The soldier, with hurt feelings, asked his fellow soldiers for any snapshots they could spare of their girlfriends, sisters or ex-girlfriends.In addition to the picture of Becky, Ricky included all the other pictures of the pretty gals he had collected from his buddies. There were 57 photos in that envelope.... along with this note:
Dear Becky,
I'm so sorry, but I can't quite remember who the hell you are.
Please take your picture from the pile, and send the rest back to me.
Take Care,
Ricky _________________ Real Earning Money Programs

The American society puts a lot of focus on female independence. Here, women do what they want and have little shame. That can be good and bad, and the bad is evidenced in the Dear John letters sent to those poor guys overseas. Please understand that not every woman left behind is going to give up, but you can definitely rely on the fact that the stress of the situation will make most women consider it. Do many Australian women have to deal with their military men leaving for months on end? |
