|
|
|
I deleted my newly created account by accident and I was sent a new invite to recreate it, but it is saying that the name is no longer available. The name is a very unlikely name so I wouldn't think anyone would have created the account in the time it took me to try the second time.
Does Gmail avail the deleted account names after they have been deleted after a certain time or at all? please help.

I don't think that anyone's found a definitive answer to that one yet.
But it's at least a matter of months, or more.
You may have to settle for a variation of it, by adding a period, hyphen, underline, etc. _________________

I think there's a period of nine months between deleting and it being available again. _________________ Football Rumours | Gloog |

Yeah I heared that nine months thing aswell - though can't remember where from.
E-mail google (from another email account) and tell them about the problem and see if they can sort something out. _________________ My sites:

I've heard about the nine months thing as well, and thought that I'd better tell you where I read about it.
The thing is that Google deletes/deactivates an account after it hasn't been used for nine consecutive months.
I don't know the answer to brum's question, though. The nine months thing is talked about in Gmail's Help Centre here, by the way. _________________

Thank you all muchely, this is much more than I knew origninally. Unfortunately Google wont respond tomy email but that’s understandable and the Help Centre is not conclusive:
"If you don't log in to your account for an extendedperiod of time, we'll mark it as dormant. After nine consecutive months ofinactivity, Google may delete the accountand all messages within that account. If your dormant account is deleted, we can't guarantee that your username will be madeavailable again. Make sure to log in to Gmail regularly!"
Thanks again for this reference and all your info, ifanyone hears anything else, please let me know. EDIT: Formatting mangled itself...

I am not sure of the nine months either. But I can confirm 100% that names are deleted.
I sent an invite to a friend of mine last year, he hardly used his account and one day he decided to but it was gone (duh... lol) I then sent him another e-mail and he set up the same user name/e-mail address as the original. The trouble is, I can't remember the amount of time in between the original was set up and the second.
Good luck _________________

| Can anybody tell me what/how to get a gmail acct? All my coworkers have one but we rarely see each other during the day and it would make it easier if we all had the same thing going. |

That's what the first topic at the top of this (Gmail) forum is for.
Just post an address, and someone will send you one.
Use a form the bots won't pick up, like name(at)domain(dot)com, etc. _________________
