I ran Bitcomet and realized that the green light at the bottom right hand corner is not on.
It's grey and my connection is very slow. Is this because of a firewall?
Any comments would be helpful  |

First of all: There is no reason running BitComet: Back in the day it was top-notch — now it's not. Get Azureus or µTorrent — honestly: The latter is extremely light-weight, yet really competent. Azureus has recently won a ton of awards and it's extremely customizable. And competent. Barely noticeable on a decent system, needs Java and isn't as lightweight as µTorrent. However, it does about everything a BitTorrent application can do (and there's a ton of plugins to extend it, too).
--> BitComets reputation is somewhat... I don't know. But I do know it was banned from all major/good/invitation only torrents, because of security issues. I wouldn't touch it when there's better alternatives.
But hey, try both uTorrent and Azureus! You're a Windows user and have so much software to choose between: Why not choose the really great ones instead of "jumping on the first one"? (Azureus is free and open source, µTorrent is free and both of them are liberated from spy-/mal-/adware.)
Your question: The port(s) you choose/use (check your Configuration/Properties) shall be port-forwarded properly in your router (sure, sometimes uPnP does its job but I always open ports manually. How you port-forward depends on your router manufacturer: Check your manual or online support pages!
--> If you have 49178 as port number (just a random number), make sure both TCP and UDP connections are forwarded within your router to the same port number(s).

As u say that your connection is very slow, is your bittorrent client (bitcomet in your case)filtered through your firewall?
also,what is your connection speed and what is the speed you are getting while downloading torrents?
also this guide to improve your torrent speed might prove usefull.

I have the same problem here, i recently got broadband in my home, its a router not a modem. Its a 256kb/s connection and i got a huge download limit. Ok, first it works in limewire pro, 30 kb/s, web browsing works perfectly. but when i try to download torrents on U torrent it says i got a NAT problem. i have a STATIC IP address, so its a local not a remote connection. Same with E mule and other p2p's, with E mule it displays as both networks as low id(both yellow colored). I have tried and used my broadband support cd and did have port forwarding options in the setup menu, but i have tried and tried for ages configuring and still doesn't work, is there anyway i can do it faster. this router does have port forwarding. (I connect 612 ROUTER). My dad has a 512kb/s modem with a dynamic ip address but everything works on his, PL Z help!!!!!!!!!!!
