Hello I was hoping someone could adivise me on a good "how to" for getting high search engine rankings. Also does anyone know of a good reputable service to submit my site to for search engines and links? Preferably nothing too expensive.

I'm just going to echo what others have said before. You need plenty of original content and a few links in and then the rest is natural. If you try too hard to get a good rank you face being banned by search engines.

I posted a similar post to another thread as an reply for user who recommended one of those services that promise to list you in search engines.
Using these fast&easy ways is not recommended, in the long run results can be quite opposite that you wished.
If you get to the top with hard work and using acceptable methods you will stay there. Give your visitors what they want: relevant content, usable site, no tricks to gain something visitors expence.

You don't need a submission service to submit your site to the search engines. You just need few quality incoming links to your site to get in the search engines' index. For high rankings get optimize your site with relevant keywords, get quality incoming links, update site's content regularly and have your most important keywords in the site's title tag.
