Environmental Scholarship

Two more scholarships I would like to share to everyone!

1. Anchor Environmental Scholarship

Eligibility

Recipients are eligible for one year of scholarship support

Conservation Research Intern (paid), Defenders of Wildlife, Madison WI
Supervisor: Director of State Projects
Job Description: Defenders of Wildlife is currently offering conservation research and writing internships for highly qualified individuals with an interest in the wildlife conservation laws and regulations at the state level. Interns will use phone interviews and internet research to compile data on state programs. The position is located in downtown Madison, Wisconsin.
Duties: Assist with research for the State of the States project, including the following duties:
1. Researching each state's ability to implement federal ESA projects 2. Researching existing programs in the states that provide funding for habitat and species protection. 3. Compile information on biodiversity and conservation planning efforts in all states. 4. Research the ecological status of each state, including projected habitat loss. 5. Write summaries of all research. 6. Performing other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
1. An undergraduate degree is required, preferably in the natural sciences, government, public policy or political science. 2. Some Graduate work in natural resources, ecology, law or public policy is preferred. 3. Work experience in environmental advocacy, natural resources or state government is preferred. 4. Ability to perform meticulous legal and/or policy research and to think creatively about research questions and the larger project. 5. Excellent analytical, writing and oral communication skills. 6. Ability to work in a consistent, efficient and timely manner. 7. Willingness to assist with administrative work. 8. General enthusiasm and strong commitment to protecting wildlife and conserving wild lands at the state level. 9. A three-month commitment, working full-time, five days a week.
How to Apply:
The stipend is $1000 each month, and they can offer additional rewards that one cannot find at other places, including working everyday with cool people, gaining great experience and doing a job that truly makes a difference.
