I did a Google search for Gmail today and spotted an ad for Walla.com "free 1G mail" on the right side (AdWords). I went ahead and signed up, just to see what it's like. My address is intelliot@walla.com - but don't send anything important, I intend not to use it much.

I'll report on experiences in some time Very Happy

i have a walla account, but it isn't compatable with my browser [firefox 0.9]. and rediffmail isn't that good either. having a gmail account is like saying you have a rolex or a benz. it's just the thought of having one that makes people want it.

i think its alright but ill be sticking with gmail for now thank you. i just love it. even these free 1 giggers are putting ads in the bottom of your emails and i cant stand that so gmail seems to be the way to go for that. i just hope they dont put ads in the bottom of it once they go public. i hate always reading an email from a friend it saying "Join yahoo, blah blah blah". gets on my nerves

I know what your talking about jeramy. I use both hotmail and yahoo.... and those annoying self-promoting ads get on my nerves. Its there for a reason to get people that you sent it to to join up with either yahoo or hotmail. I dont understand why it needs to be on there anyway because it already has the "@yahoo.com" and "@hotmail.com" in your email address. If a person sees that and wants to get a yahoo or hotmail account they will. Why make us have the taglines at the end of a email.

I mean, Yahoo fair enough, cos I can understand that people might not know they have an email service. It isn't readily apparent from the address or the fact that there a search engine.

Hotmail however is obviously a mail account. One that sounds like it could be weird and dodgy too Smile

It's advertisement. I could be Viagra or MTV or whatever. On the other hand, when you get a message you don't always see the address. It depends a lot on your e-mail client.

On the other hand, people like my mother would never go to Yahoo or Hotmail on their own. They need an advert, and also a link. But now Yahoo has a link to Yahoo News, not to Yahoo Mail.

PD: They have a spelling mistake in the Spanish version: "Visíta Yahoo! Noticias." It actually is "Visita Yahoo! Noticias", without the accent on the "i".

I didn't get your point. What follows mislead me.
