Personally, I prefer GTalk's simple design and elegance. Windows Live or MSN is also good, but I don't like it as much as GTalk. As for ICQ, I've never used it. You should add Yahoo! to the list as well. Its quite popular.

I too think Google talk is the koolest.It has very kool features and it's file transfering speed is very fast.I too agree with the "King" that Yahoo messenger should be included in this category.

Yeah !! I too agree with Arun that G talk is awesome  but the yahoo latest version of Beta is really very good.It can send files at a great speed but the chat room is not very prominent.
Lastly I say that G talk is the best but it should have chat rooms like yahoo so that we can communicate to people all over the world as we do in google community and the file sending should be a bit fast !!!
