Try refreshing the page, if you haven't done so already.
The page which says "1 new message" may be stored in your cache.

When you say that you've read all the messages, d'you mean that you've read them through email? This happened to me as well. Orkut messages are sent to my email address (this can be changed in settings) where I read them, but they appear as unread in orkut itself. You can't really do much other than selecting all the messages and marking them read. Of course, you can also read your messages through orkut. Then they appear as read, not unread.
I hope this solves your problem.

I don't want to sound like a cliche or anything, but I was wondering if someone could send me an invite to Orkut. I've been trying for months now to find someone to invite me, but haven't had any luck. If someone could help me out I would appreciate it. I don't understand why it's so difficult to get one or why others won't help people like me out. Oh well, thank you in advance if someone decides to help me out.
