I was surfing the web and came across this...
It seems to be a useful tool, one that notifies you when you get new mail in Gmail. However after browsing through the messages on the creator's site, there seems to be a lot of bugs/problems with it.
Has anyone tried this thing out? If so, can you please post YOUR results with this? If I get Gmail, this is definitely a must.
Anyway, if you do have this, please post. |

Also, the messages were kind of confusing, but can someone please explain to me which bugs were fixed? I couldn't tell by the posts there.
From what I understand, the big issues were:
-It only works with Internet Explorer
-It steals focus
-It opens Gmail in the same window (Is this the same as stealing focus??)
-It says you have 100 messages ALWAYS
-It only works with one account (Not really a problem, but for those with multiple accounts, it can be inconvenient I guess)
So, which of these were fixed? |

hmm...the GTray looks interesting...kinda like MSN Messenger with the email alerts and everything. this tool makes it convenient for a gmail user not to always have to open a browser window and always have to log into gmail.

so GRox, after you get a gmail acct, do you plan on trying it out? this is the first time i've heard of such a thing called GTray, however fascinating  it looks promising and secure enough i guess, i'll give you that. |

looks interesting. I will have to try it out. I love this feature in hotmail, it is more useful than I would have thought. I hope this one works just as well.

what do you mean "Just get rid of all the bugs!!!!!!!"  I don't understand. I have tried it once and it worked just fine for me, I did not encounter any bugs, but it isn't my place to judge how secure it is I haven't used it sufficiently enough, but it looks harmless enough.
and I wholeheartedly agree with you, picknslap, the little email alert pop-ups that hotmail provides are quite nice I assume they were the original innovators of that feature, as AOL copied it to implement alerts for all sorts of things in their most recent release for AIM.  |

wait. I just leave google open in a tab on firefox, and it automatically recieves new email. And I see it right there. I don't need this tray.

picknslap, the GTray was invented essentially for those people too lazy to open a browser and wait for the Gmail homepage to load and log in. I agree with you, however, that is probably the most logical way to know if you have new email besides from just logging in without any Gmail window already open.
GRox, you should follow picknslap's solution. GTray may work perfectly and make it more convenient to receive new mail, but it's not necessary. Use what you've already got. |

| i had installed firefox recently and added the gmail notification. As picknslap indicated this is more than sufficient. I do not need the Gtray. |
