Using Browse by Name, users can type "adobe reader" into Internet Explorer's address bar and end up at the harder-to-remember "http://www.adobe.com/products/acrobat/readstep2.html" URL to start the process of downloading the free PDF utility.
If the toolbar doesn't recognize the word(s), it does a standard Google search and displays the results. Typing "toyota pickups," for instance, brings up a typical hit list of sites.
Although Google's toolbar has an auto-update option that grabs newer versions without user intervention, the pace is methodical; not all users had been upgraded to the newest version by Thursday. |

So it's basically just making IE more like Firefox... yay... it's still a useless program.

| it is bascially search with added commercial sense. Probably this will make the surfer to go the sponsored sites first. |

Huh. This is strange.
I have a brand new google toolbar (three weeks old at its oldest), so I decided to try it with "disney." I ended up with a standard IE response -- an MSN search page.
Wonder if it's blocked out?

It's Google. It'll only record URLs (not personally identifiable but will be seen in general population usage statistics as seen in the Google Zeitgeist I believe) if you have the advanced features on.
And crvk3, it is GOOGLE; they'll bring you to the proper site--not a commercial one.
