Hi, Does anyone have a good list of free directories to submit to? I did have a great list of links saved in my favourites but this website is now down so I'd like to get as many of them back as possible. Thanks in advance, Kev

You probably won't get enough hits to make it worthwhile but the links will help raise your PageRank and the more inbound links you can get the better chance you have at achieving higher search ratings.

site owners submit their site to directories to increase backlinks, getting hits is just a secondary purpose..

doesn't it hurt your page ranking to be linked by a bunch of smaller directories? I was told to only try and get links from the big directories and to stay away from the smaller ones as they could be treated as link farms.

No incoming link should do you any harm as you can't choose everyone who links to you, just make sure the links are one-way.

Submit in to all directories but make sure you submit you site in right category since just link popularity won't give effective result it should be relevant. If you keep submitting in relevant categories, it will surely help you in the progress of keyword ranking.

Try those directories which have a relatively high PR and can give you instant or almost instant links! You might wana try my directory. YOu can add your link to the links page (PR3) if your site is not related to Mortgage etc
