In fact, nor do I. Maybe people first made modern dolls at that time or something. I found out - through Google - that Dolls was a Hollywood film released in 1983, in which dolls started killing people or something; also, Hasbro began selling a new line of dolls called Charmkins in 1983.

The doll is a "Cabbagepatch Kid". One of the first toys that started the modern marketing phenomenon
of convincing people that it's a 'must-have' Christmas gift.
People went to insane lengths to get one, and by the next year people had come to their senses,
there were a ton left in warehouses, and people had moved on to next year's craze.
An example in recent years would be the "Elmo" doll.

The CabbagePatch dolls still keep popping up again. A few years ago there was another rush to get them - all my sisters wanted one.

The Cabbage Patch Dolls were popular in the 80's. People would fight at the toy stores to get them. I think they are trying to say that as times go on these are the fads and Gmail is a fad that in time will fade. |

Actually, I don't think Google really cares much about what people are doing,
or 'knows' anything about them, for that matter.
It's just contextual advertising. Software reacting to words it recognizes.
I don't think that really scares anybody that isn't living
in a shack in the woods with tinfoil on the walls.
