Hello GC!

One of my websites was on the top page of MSN (Page 1, position #8 ) for an excellent keyword that I was targetting and on Page number 2, #11 for another rather important keyword. My website position then dropped from the first page (of my main keyword) and went to page 2, pos. 17. The site keeps on fluctuating for my main keyword, however my secondary keyword's position is rather stable and stays on #11 which is ok.

I made some changes to my meta, desc, keyword and title tags and added even more highly optimized text a couple of times so that the rankings would improve.

When I check the Cahed version of my website, it shows the snapshot it took on 7/8/2006. It's been days since I updated the title, meta, text, keyword etc after the ranking dropped yet it's still showing the same keywords and title and everything in search results.

My question, how long does MSN take to update the index and notice any changes in a website? Any idea?

If it's not updating the index or seeing any changes in my site then why did my rankings drop? If it is in fact updating the rankings of other websites then why is it ignoring my site? Why am I still seeing the old version? Any ideas? Any tips on how to get site updated on Search.msn.com?

It varies for different websites. If your content is updated often, the MSN bot will visit your site often to reindex. If your site is only updated seldomly, your site may take a while to be reindexed.

The results could be dancing or competitors could be improving their search optimisation.

Maybe MSN's bot crawls their websites more often because their content is updated more often.

Wait.

Keep in mind that because the cache hasn't been updated, doesn't mean MSN's search bot hasn't noticed the differences. It could just be that competitors are getting stronger.
