Well, you're questions are a bit strange to me, I think: Is your problem A. That you can't use Google Talk at all when using Mac OS X  — that you can't install the Google Talk client? B. Do you mean that you're unable to connect to the Google Talk protocol using a Mac? Or C. That you can talk via Google Talk Mac <---> PC but never Mac <---> Mac?

If C. I have no clue: That sounds really weird. If A or B: Google Talk isn't available for Mac OS X — sadly enough. However, even Google recommends other clients to connect to the network ('cause you can talk to other  Gtalkers, however with another client than Google's official one.

Have you tried: GAIM? (Free.) Psi? (Free, too.) Adium? (Free, my personal favourite). Google List Of Other Clients Including installing instructions. Even Apple's own iChat works fine with Google Talk!

If  you still have issues: Is your computer really alright? Do you have a firewall or are you behind a proxy, blocking all Google Talk traffic? Anyway: I've been using Google Talk from Adium about a year now (and I've tried iChat, too). I have no complaints at all, except I can't use voice or (the excellent) file transferring. A Google Talk client for Mac OS X — please, Google!

And, oh yes: You can use Linux ( Mac or PC don't matter!) and still chat on the Google Talk network: GAIM and Psi should do a good job.

Hope that helped you out.

[Edit:] One more thing: I forgot a rather fantastic feature: If you have a decent browser, Google Talk is always there, to the left in your Gmail. Cross-client, cross-OS. Smile

Hello,

Thank you for replying.  I guess my question was not phrased very well. My question is rather simple so I'll ask again.  My friend has a Mac computer.  I have a PC computer running windows and Linux.  We cannot talk using google chat for some reason.  We are both wondering if perhaps google chat cannot work together with PC calling google chat and Mac calling a Pc computer?
