In September my site peaked at 10 visits a day, now its none from google except in a blue moon.    Google images had 3 of my photos on the first page for the same search.

Every month I change the site, if I search "David R. Griffiths photos" without the quotes I get my current page in the cache but mostly the July page is in the google cache , and what do you know search of google images "Australian landscape photos"
including the quotes brings up photos from my July gallery, these have all been moved to my archive site and I put a special link to this gallery on the index page for people looking for them.

If you put "Australian landscape photos" including the "'s then I come up, but no one searches that.  So I infer I am being punished for photos not being where the directory thinks they are, and I think after 6 months there must be an accounting, so March the photos go up and I get good traffic, six months later end of September I suddenly lose all search traffic.

But otherwise I cant be found without the " 's in the search, despite the fact that after a few pages we are already moving to inexact matches.  I come up on page 1 with msn and yahoo but few people use these search engines.

Google toolbar tells me my site ranks 3/10 which is pretty good for the average site.  It seems it's the space problem I have which has led me to delete galleries of photos and move them elsewhere.  In fact I have now moved them to picasa using the website as a front end, I have now got loads of free space on my (free) website so in the new year I'll redesign it in a more enduring format with a small number of photos on the site for google images, which won't require material to be deleted and hopefully Google will come back to me eventually.

In the meantime I still get traffic through tagging it in emails where appropriate and passing out cards etc.
