Last night Folding@Home was going happily along.
I work up today and I have found that it has completed 51 frames of 400 I thought to my self cool.
I shut the program down as I was finishing updating my Half-Life 2 via steam.
I restarted the pc and the first thing it told me was that I needed to run chkdsk as the folding@home logfile was unreadable/corupt this I did but it was not possible I tryed deleting the file but I couldent so I rebooted and whent into safe mode, here I deleted the logfile_01.txt that was inside the work folder of folding@home.
However the problem did not finish here as now when I start my pc up it tells me that the config file in system32 is now corupt and that I should try the recovery console, I tried this and I'm still down.
I really wanted to help out with folding@home but now I have seen its true potencial of killing my boot up system I feel that I will probably not install it again, to alll you out there who want to try it out please do so and dont be put off of what I have just said as I think I just had bad luck with it.
Now has anybody got any ideas why this is happening.
Here's my pc specs:
Pentium 4 550 3.4Ghz (Socket775)
Asus P5AD2 Premium 925X chipset (Socket 775)
Kingston 1GB RAM PC2-4300 DDR2
Connect 3D Radeon X800XT 256MB PCI-E
1 IDE Hard drive 250GB NTFS "master"
1 IDE Hard drive 20GB FAT32 "slave"
1 DVD Rom
And a partridge in a pear tree "just kidding lol" _________________ My Blog | Microsoft Discussion

I'm not sure why this is happening but I also have a problem. When it got to about 1000/2500 it just reset itself.....strange. _________________ MS Discussion |

I think you have a certain time in which you must complete each WU, maybe you were over your time broken?
As for darrenstraight's problem, it better not happen to me! |

I don't think I was over the time, I think the deadline was tomorrow. It would have finished by then. _________________ MS Discussion |

I’m putting my good faith back into folding@home right now after all what happened early today “I’ve formatted my hdd now” I have now installed folding@home again and I have just received (p1409_polyQ26 in water) and it says It will be completed in 52 days.
Luckily I found this article: http://forum.folding-community.org/viewtopic.php?t=10331
Let’s just hope my estimate of 52 days will also drop down.
Edit: hurray its now droped down to 1 day and 23 h _________________ My Blog | Microsoft Discussion |
