Yes, I suggest that. Registration is free, so if you want to read you have to do something from your part.

As well, the database of users is huge, and does not reflect the real situation. Why do we want 2000 registered users if half of them do never come here? Is it just a figure to boast of? I find it silly, and I've never admitted that in the board I'm Admin (for example, last Monday I "cleaned" the database of members: 180 0-posts with a visit prior to 8 months ago went out; the database is never higher than 3000). This way you have to work a little more, but it is safer and neater.

Although things are not exactly the same as they were years ago, this information can offer a definition of troll:

I thought that phpBB had minimum post length enabled by default... or did you disable it and just enable it wrong?

Or am I just looking like an idiot right now? Razz

Yes... phpBB has a minimum time interval between posts by default. I can't think of the time though. It's either 15 or 30 seconds.

We're not talking about time intervals here. We mean the actual length of the post, in characters. No, phpBB doesn't have this built-in, although it is easy to add.

Oh, okay. The actual length of posts doesn't work well. I've seen a forum that had it and they ended up getting rid of it. I think they had a minimum of 100 characters per post (which isn't hard to do). There are easy work arounds for going around the length of posts. For example excessive punctuation, spaces, etc. Or something I do by habit (............).

Yes, but at least we won't get posts that just say "yo"

I'm sure that anyone who posts excessive punctuation and spaces along with their short and meaningless posts will be disliked by the community..

but thanks for the note, Randy Smile

Yeah. Sometimes by habit I put a few too many periods after my sentences... <<---- Like that. If it is a problem, let me know and I will try to stop ASAP.

Embrace 99% of them! Very Happy It's very small number of the membership who has a problem with structure/rules in forums. It may seem like many sometimes, because of the repeated trouble by the same individuals.
