I don't know any computer languages, but you got me interested in researching it for a minute, and I was able to find this.

from what I get of it: Python isn't dead , but it's having a hard time because developement organizations do not consider it a mission critical language yet.

The story

Jim Hugunin the force behind IronPython has been working with Microsoft since last summer and they just released .07 beta for running on .NET.
