Google incorporates "keyhole" with Google Maps -- read about it here.
| Quote: | | Have you ever wished you could see what someplace looked like before you got there? A house? A hotel? A freeway exit? We thought you might find it useful, so we've incorporated Keyhole technology into Google Maps and Google Local. Now when you type an address into Google Maps, you can click the 'Satellite' link and see a view of the area. You can zoom, |

That's interesting. Not only getting the map, but you can also see a satellite picture I just took a look at it and that is a really good improvement! (I'm actually having a lot of fun looking at the satellite pictures ) That is finding a specific building a lot easier! Too bad they don't have Europe! _________________ I love new messages, don't you? |

Yeah, I saw that a while back. Unfortunately, to get the full software you actually have to purchase it. I also think that it's likely the picutres are slightly out of date, since many of them were taken months, or maybe years, ago. It's still a cool feature, of course. I only hope that one day they can expand on this to have it be constantly updated. _________________ http://img117.echo.cx/img117/3782/sig114hc.jpg

Just a little more information about this feture...
| Quote: | SAN FRANCISCO - Online search engine leader Google has unveiled a new feature that will enable its users to zoom in on homes and businesses using satellite images, an advance that may raise privacy concerns as well as intensify the competitive pressures on its rivals.
The satellite technology, which Google began offering late Monday at http://maps.google.com, is part of the package that the Mountain View-based company acquired when it bought digital map maker Keyhole Corp. for an undisclosed amount nearly six months ago.
This marks the first time since the deal closed that Google has offered free access to Keyhole's high-tech maps through its search engine. Users previously had to pay $29.95 to download a version of Keyhole's basic software package. |
