Sorry if this question is dumb but I'm new to the business, and I'd like to know what happens when I set a Google AdWords ad, can I set it targeted to all countries, and if I'm from Russia, when I go to Google.com and type in eBay for example, why aren't there any sponsored ads on this keyword, is this because, they aren't targeted for searchers from Russia or is it because there aren't any ads on this keyword, I mean are the search results of the sponsored ads are the same no matter where you are searching from or do people target them for specific countries and they aren't seen to other countries?
Hope it's not a too complicated question, please answer just if you know for sure, Thank You! |

Google caters the same AdWords ads equally to all countries. Google only can accomodate three ads for a certain keyword on each search page. They usually display the higher-paying ads first. Keep refreshing until you find your ad... _________________ "A lie gets halfway around the world before the truth has a chance to get it's pants on." - Winston Churchill |

Ok, thanks, but what is the ad targeting then, and what it affects?
And also, sorry for this stupid question but... You actually say that there are no eBay affiliate sponsored ads on Google whatsoever? As I can see you're from Canada right, what happens when you search Google.com for eBay, do you see any sponsored links?
Thanks! |

Google displays adds tracing from any geographical location to all users, yet I forgot to mention an important detail. Google target ads locally, but not specifically. A person from Canada may be able to see ads sponsored from Canada, but that does not exclude them from viewing ads generated from other countries.
Your case seems to be unique, I guess, because I have a friend in Ukraine, a country very near to Russia and he can view ads which track keywords related to e-bay. _________________ "A lie gets halfway around the world before the truth has a chance to get it's pants on." - Winston Churchill |
