Yes, Meatwad, that may as well be the case...as Google recently outlawed selling and/or trading of gmail accounts. I have also heard that the invite flow has stopped due to maintenance...but for whatever reason Google has, I'm sure it's quite valid. It is quite illogical to even think of buying an account when one has an opportunity to create a preferred username account, but it makes sense in some cases. For example, a person may want a particular gmail username, let's say, georgewbush@gmail.com (i can't think of another name, so please bear with me ) but of course someone else has beat them to it and already registered it. Now, if that someone doesn't want that account anymore for whatever reason, but doesn't want the account to go to waste (especially if he/she can make a profit out of it, don't you think?), and decides to put it up for sale. There are actually many factors and variables in this kind of situation...the internet and people's motives are complex yet simple. |
i agree on this totherescue..completely 100% true. i have a few gmails w/ weird funny names. _________________

lol cvrk3, by the time gmail goes all out, those "funny names" won't be a problem anymore...well, at least i think so. everybody by then would have an equal opportunity to register for a username and for some instances, the same one. gmail invites swapping and trading sites would disappear, and probably gmail/google forums would slowly decline, since gmail would be non-beta.
hopefully gmail's non-beta stage is right around the corner |

Ah, I actually expect Google/Gmail forums to explode with the influx of new Gmail users. The IPO could help too |

This is just my 1.74 cents....
Me being with out a gmail account, makes me want one so bad. Thats what google wants and should do. I feel that Google should try to push back the date for going public for gmail. Keep on beta testing, adding new features, annoucing them to the public so that they keep on wanting an account more and more and people that have an account want another one. This i feel builds it up. Because once it goes public it will be hotter then baking a cake. It will be very hot for the first year or so til all the good names are gone. Then it will level off and go back to reality with the rest of the competion, MSN and Yahoo. Other companies like Wallamail and Spymac will continue to grow little by little til the great Gmail comes out, then it will fall back to earth and end up just being another crapy email site. I have a Spymac email, i tryed to email 2 people and it would not let me. I could only email 1 person at a time. Also it has alot of errors. Big problem. I didnt like, and wont be using it. I thank gmail in a way, it got likes of Yahoo and MSN to finally give more email space. Sorry for rambling on. lol

yea well yahoo and msn/hotmail sucks compaired to gmail, gmail is really nice how they do things, some times things get thrown in the spam that isent spam, but if you tell its not spam it'll be fine.
I think IMO that gmail is haveing to upgrade there servers, because i know some times the site will crawl, so they may be upgradin and adding more servers and stuff before they get more invites, thats what i feel likes goin on. _________________ http://www.thrillnerdshosting.com - Your Start to the Internet |
