I wasn't sure where to post this really, whether in the "Chit Chat" section or here, but as there is a sticky on the event in this section, I decided this was the best place. This is my first post here, but having heard and seen images of what happened today in London I felt compelled to say something, anything really. First I'd just like to offer my condolences to the families of those that have lost someone today. I don't know how I would react to such an event, whether with anger or devastation - or perhaps even both - so from my heart I am deeply sorry for your loss. For those that are presently unsure on the whereabouts or condition of their loved ones I can only hope that they are found safely or recover from whatever ailment they possess.

I am not particularly religious so I have failed to find solace by spiritual means today, which has left me feeling empty as I have watched the death toll steadily rise. Yet, as I watch the news I have come to see the unity that such a tragic event of this world causes. Tony Blair stated that the terrorists would fail in their effort to "divide our people or weaken our resolve." This seemed so transparent to me until I began to witness the response of not only those in London, but that of countries around the globe. Not more than a day earliar had London beat Paris in its bid for the 2012 Olympics, yet upon hearing of the attack, France, along with nations around the globe, offered their unconditional support to the United Kingdom. To see the citizens of London opening their homes to aid personal and the nations of the world immediately condemning those responsible gave me some hope that perhaps "terror" will fail in its objective to cripple societies. Perhaps its naive of me to think so, but this type of thing makes us look at ourselves and one another and I hope as we do so we see open arms and not afraid faces.

Thanks for listening. Feel free to post your thoughts, condolences or a prayer if you like, but please don't argue over who is responsible, what should be done, etc.

Our thoughts go out to those who lost and to those who fight to save lives.
