Please read this and help find a cure for diseases such as Alzheimer's disease, cystic fibrosis, BSE (Mad Cow disease), an inherited form of emphysema, and even many cancers!
In team with Folding@Home, a distributed computing project from Stanford University, Google is offering a program that uses your spare CPU to help F@H gather data to understand protien folding. When protiens mis-fold they can result in diseases such as Alzheimer's disease, cystic fibrosis, BSE (Mad Cow disease), an inherited form of emphysema, and even many cancers are believed to result from protein misfolding. The program WILL NOT slow down your computer! It uses CPU that is not being put to use by your computer to conduct research and send data to F@H.

For those who do not have internet explorer AT ALL on their computer, are not running off of microsoft or do not wish to download the google toolbar, F@H offers their own software which is available here.

| I did it automatically does if you use the google compute version. plus ive heard there are a lot of flaws in the f@h version. I tried it and didn't encounter any but it didn't look like a very well put together program. |

I don't actievly participate in Folding at Home (have crunched a few units my self), I'm mostly active in the BOINC projects like predictor. Folding at Home is currently testing a BOINC client which I'll end up attaching to my little network of systems once it's out in the public.

1 Question:Does this take up alot of system resources?Because I only have one computer at home and everyone is using it everytime!And so,even if I installhtis,I might not be able to help much!
Note:I will install this once I get MY own PC,and would be bookmarking this. |

All Distributed Computing Projects have a priority level of 1(low) so that they shouldn't mess with other programs that you're working in. Folding@Home for example has to have workunits back by a certain time for them to be effective. BOINC for example will give your system the amount of work it can handle.

Ok,thanks ofr clarifying,as I said earlier on,I will install this on my own PC or laptop when I get one,which should be after my examinations,which are ending around 1-2 months later! |
