I'm a college student at MIT and a friend of mine and I just finished creating a website called goresidential.com a couple of days ago. The site lets people advertise and search for real estate using a map of the United States. Unfortunately, nobody knows about our site. We're not really sure how we can tell people about it. The site is hosted on MIT's network and they won't allow commercial websites so there's no way for us to advertise on google and then use google ads to make that money back.
We're wondering if you have any tips on getting the word out. Maybe you can tell us how we might add some XML or something that would make google like our page better so it's higher up in the search results. I don't know.
Well I suggest getting some cheap hosting. That way you do have to pay but you get money back from ads and whatnot...
As for the design. Its simple and clean. I like the way you put it together. I suggest an about section or some text when the page loads that explains your site.
Otherwise very nice. For advertising try some forums or go around and post flyer for anyone looking real estate.
