In response to some comments: Google Talk does indeed embed in Sidebar. Do this:

1. Install Google Talk.
2. Close Sidebar. (Actually close it, don’t just minimize it.)
3. Wait 15 seconds and open Sidebar.
4. Select Add/Remove Panels from the Sidebar menu.
5. Select Google Talk, which now appears on the list.

Hmm, actually "double clicking" the google talk window's "title bar" seems to dock it in the Sidebar as well. Try that, too..

It is a bar that runs along the side of your screen, streaming information from the web... Weather, news headlines, images, scratch pad, your gmail inbox, etc. It's really cool!
