My suggestion is that the various actions taken by the administrators and moderators might sometimes be a little more transparent. It's not that I think they need to "explain" or "justify" their actions, I just think that it would be helpful for readers to see the process in a bit more detail.

One example is the moving of threads. I'll come across one, with the notation that it's been moved to where I now see it. There's a natural curiosity about where it's come from.

Another example I happened across was a note added to a post, stating that a poster had been banned for 'not reading the rules', where it seems that a note of which rule had been contravened would have been useful to the reader. Sometimes, it's not absolutely clear whether the decision was made upon the content (or lack thereof) of a post, or an offending portion that has been removed.

Again, this is just to more easily acquaint the reader with how the forums are run. I want to make it clear that I'm not, and have no wish to second-guess any actual decisions made.

Heh, on a forum I moderate, we'll move posts to the correct forum but don't say where, not required as long as you say it's been moved. If someone gets banned, then all their posts will be moved to a forum where moderators and administrators can see. If someone just breaks a rule in one of their posts, we edit it out and leave a note saying why it was edited and who edited it.

Personally, I don't think the admins should release info as to why someone got banned(it's really the person's buissness of whom got banned and not yours).

Curiousity killed the cat... though, I'd be happy as well if moderators and admins reference both the forums between which topics are switched.

Well, I won't argue about your right to that opinion. I don't see it as a 'privacy' issue, though, as that person has been banned for something that they've publicly posted, and I could have seen in the first place, before it came to the moderator's attention.

And again, I haven't suggested that anyone "needs" to do anything. I said that it would be informative.

You're a born Moderator, Darren. If all else inexplicably fails, there's be a place for you in the Diplomatic Corps. Thanks for your (as alway) courteous response.

And once more, for clarity. It was just a suggestion. Not a complaint. Not a problem.
