Hey All,
I just found this really good anti virus software from Grisoft and guess what it's Free you can download a copy of the free software from:
http://free.grisoft.com/doc/1/lng/us/tpl/v5
Click the link to the downloads page it works exactly like the version you pay for except theres no timing for specific tasks and no help or info about viruses or help info about trojans, diallers or any viruses you get so this may not be good if you don't know much about computers.
Anyone else use AVG free? _________________

| I use NOD32, AVG wasn't as good as it looks, NOD32 is free and gets daily updates, and the pay version is the same as the free version. the trail time is the bad part, but you can just reinstall and get another month of free NOD32. |

I use AVG 'resident', and Avast as an 'on demand' scan. It has found nasties that AVG has missed.
But mostly, I don't have any problems, not being interested in warez, p0rn, or 'promiscuous' file-sharing. |

I use AVG free. It's better than norton's costly antivirus program. _________________ My other sig has a penguin in it.

Yes, there's certainly no reason to buy an anti-virus, when there are several good ones available for free. Especially when they usually come in the form of a bloated "security suite" which tries to do everything at once (and usually when you're trying to do something else).
My opinion is the same of McAfee. It's blind overkill, that often just makes systems sluggish and unresponsive.
Many sites now also offer free on-line scanning (like Trend-Micro's "Housecall") that are very good, just in case you want to make sure your machine hasn't been compromised. |

I wouldnt touch it personally.
I have cleaned up a few puters that relied on AVG.
virus protection is important (or it should be)
spend a few bucks and get a decent one. _________________ Dont worry about the world coming to an end tomorrow, its already tomorrow in Australia.

I don't believe it's a good idea to completely rely on any one program, free or paid.
In fact, the people I see most often getting into trouble, are those that have paid for a fat 'all-in-wonder' program;
and have the false sense of security that they need no longer use any common sense. _________________
