my take on G.v.sM
simple, Microsoft got a lot (most) of us on the web...and now that we're here, Google, plans to take us on for the ride.
Microsoft has lost the search battle and doubt it'll ever recover.
But google is making the quality of what the web was made for originally, a much better thing, exchanging information.
I think Microsoft, maybe didn't see the bigger picture. They just wanted to make sure their product was in every household and it is (in most).
Google said, great, thanks for letting everybody in, we'll take it from here.
Lucky guys ($ergey and Larry)
It's a cycle, in the next 10 years, someone will come up with something good as well. |

I think that if google tried to create an operating system it would take a lot of their resources. They should create new things, but not a huge task like an OS. _________________ Football Rumours | Gloog

With the kind of coin they have and the new team that's running it...NO WAY would i just sit and develop what i have already.
Gotta expand and that's where they're doing.
That could have been said about their search engine.
"okay, great search engine, let's leave it at that"
There would be no Gmail, GoogleTalk, Picasa, Orkut (sp?), GoogleEarth, etc, etc... |

I didn't mean don't do any more expanding...i meant i don't think they should leap into such a big thing like and operating system. I'll edit my post. _________________ Football Rumours | Gloog |

Would you stop at an OS if you were google?
With the kind of team you had and the money behind it?
Honestly...? |

I might not stop depending on whether I had analysed the projected results properly...even google do not like wasting money...it would cos a huge amount of money to create an OS which rivalled Microsoft from scratch. _________________ Football Rumours | Gloog |

Well if any of the rumours are true, they won't be starting from scratch but either with Unix or Linux base. So we'll see what happens...like I said, they know they got a strong team, and seem to know what they're doing.
Why is Microsoft's Steve Ballmer, always bashing Google at any events/seminars he is hosting or is a speaker of?
If they're not a threat, why mention them? (other than the search factor...big deal right? ) |

I would love google/sun to create an operating system. I hope that the said OS would get at least as many users as a mac OS. That would be a huge feat in itself. Microsoft needs the competetion so that they are striving to be better.
I currently use:
dual boot (XP32 and XP64..just got 64 the other day)
firefox
MS office
Gmail
Gdesktop
Thunderbird
Im hoping that gdesktop/gtalk will be available for 64! _________________

I think google is winner even now! You ask me why? And my answer is: because people use googlemail (when you install your windows it will tell you that hotmail is the best mail system) but somebody choose gmail... If you choose gmail than you may be using google talk and there a lot of programs and services that people use even if Microsoft has something like that... And one thing all google features are free _________________
