Today I decided I needed to use Hijack This! but couldn't find it, so I searched drive C for "HJT" It gave me one result, which was in my "temporary" Internet files, so I looked in that folder and got a terrible surprise: The website "http://storage.msn.com/" had made 88 of these files, each with a terribly long filename. I moved them all to a new folder, and here is a picture of them (actually, you can only see about a third of them):
According to averages, all of the filenames put together contain 12870 letters, that's 146.25 per file. What on earth is microsoft doing? Other websites have files in there, but they are mostly very few characters indeed. Is microsoft trying to make us buy more hard discs? How many qusetions am I going to put at the end of my post? Can I stop websites from doing this? Shouldn't the names be nice and short?

So, what's the size of the new folder you put them in?

Anyway, I suppose that the descriptive names would be a good idea if you went in there looking for something specific. I never do.
They're one of the things I flush almost daily as part of regular maintenance.

And no, I don't think it's coincidental that Microsoft does things that are best done on new, large, and powerful computers.

Why not just delete your temporary internet files, cookies etc?

You DARE to accuse me of using IE? You, you, you... non-sig-reader! (and I regularly press firefox's "Clear cache" button).

Interesting. Aren't the "Temporary Internet Files" created by IE?

Yeah, but FF does create certificates under IE, because of the engine.
