Confused Yeah, why do so many people want orkut. I mean look at the size of the invitation request thread here and for what. You get loads of bad server messages, its not really a joy to use. I agree its a great resource, but it runs horrible.

I agree with you. Orkut does look horrible. I signed up through the invitation thread here, but since then, I've lost my interest in it. Maybe that's what'll happen to the other people.

The layout is quite bad, and the colours as well. I mean, it doesn't look like "Google"'s work. And I don't know why, but I simply hate it. Ever since the time I signed up for orkut, I've developed a hatred for such "online social communities".

At times, it can be very frustrating inviting new people because of the server issues. In many cases, the communities aren't that great either. It is plagued by the same problems as the rest of the internet, lack of respect and too many immature idiots. When people start treatings others on the internet the same way they would face to face, then we'll have good communities.

All of this adds up to rubbish!

Orkut can vary greatly. Yes, there are a lot of dumb people/communities within it, but I have found many lively and great people within it as well. It's all where you search and go.

As far as the server issues go, I have some words of advice: avoid rush hour times!

Yeah, we shouldn't have to deal with that, but from what I've gathered, the rush hour times are around noon and midnight, with dinner time popular as well.

If you avoid those time slots, the donut error become less frequent.

Hehe!

I've been using orkut and find it very...ugly. Like one poster said above, it doesn't look like google's work.

Hopefully it'll improve in the future though.
