You will find A LOT of quality KML/KMZ at http://bbs.keyhole.com. Keyhole actually owned the software prior to Google and Google bought it and improved it(I can vouch for that since I was using it when Keyhole owned it). The BBS is now operated by Google and there is some amazing stuff there.

I have things like real-time cloud cover, r/t sunlight, hometowns of every soldier killed in Iraq, etc. I recommend it.
