hi. i want to post a presence check on my blog to let folks know when i'm online at gtalk.

is there a way to generate html code that does a presence check on a user and displays that user's status?

i'm thinking of something analogous to yahoo's opi indicator:

http://messenger.yahoo.com/addpresence.php

I've never seen someone do this for an XMPP-based service, but I can't imagine it would be difficult...any thoughts?

Thanks in advance,
DKB

I would like to know if there's any of that functionality as well...nice question. Hopefully this helps it along.

Sorry I couldn't be of any help, though you gave me something to model from yahoo.

Care.

You probably could with AJAX since GTalk is XML based to an extent, my field of expertise realy stops at php and basic javascript.

Yes AJAX shoudl do the trick fine.  You will want to use midlevel transfer protocol such as SOAP which will produce rapid respose applications with out actually making full calls to teh HTTP header, this will imporve footproint, overhead, CPU load.  You can also use Python for certain AJAX like features.  Maybe someone more knowledgable will give you more info on this?
