I doubt Google uses the toolbar to spy on people. The toolbar does submit information when finding PageRanks, but nothing confidential, and it also asks for confirmation first. _________________ Football Rumours | Gloog |

Yes, and the 'tracking' aspects are referred to as being among the "advanced features", and need not be installed for basic functionality.
Just read the intructions during installation. _________________

"Spyware" usually infers subjecting the user to some kind of advertising, which the google toolbar does not do. _________________ My Blog | Car Wallpapers |

The Google Toolbar is not spyware.
How could it be?
It doesn't advertise, open pop-ups, or do anything to that scheme. If Google Toolbar was spyware, in theory, Google would be spyware, which would mean people would know about it. I never got any problems from using Google toolbar. |

Well, actually, that is referred to as "adware".
Spyware is something that tracks and reports a User's browsing habits.
"Bad" spyware does this unknown to the user, with personally-identifying information (which may then be used to serve ads in a variety of ways).
The Google toolbar does neither of those things. _________________
