|

|
This is quoted from a topic on another forum. It's a great tip that I've seen before, but I've never seen such concrete evidence of success. The idea of moving the ads below the fold (and seeing an increase in CTR due to that) is new to me. If I think up some images, I'll try that here too.
Big thanks to member "www.AmCy.org" and their site Student Credit Cards and the post in this thread
I made the change to my site, putting images above the ads, and my CTR
has been 400% the average these last 2 days. This is not a spike, my
CTR has been +- 25% for the last 2 months. The changes I made:
The link units were always there, but by adding images above the
leaderboard it has increased CTR, even though it is now below the fold. I made this change on all pages of my site, moving the ads down and putting images above them. To make it look nicer on some pages where I did have two leaderboards I now only have the one and CTR is still up. Also the images are a select few taken from the gallery (where people draw pigs) and are random to stop it getting boring.
I can highly recomend doing this. Tho I think it is best at the bottom
of the page as ads + images will take up the top 3rd of the fold and,
well, think of the poor users scroll wheels... ...Content is still king _________________ Google Search blog |

I don't think that's not allowed. You should have a visible border line below the images. _________________ [No referral links, please. -admin] |

Hi.. I also have a problem with it on my large rectangle type. I place 4 images but sometimes only 3 or 2 ads shown. |

I'm not sure I'll try this. I really want the extra money, but I don't want to confuse my visitors.
Those extra 300% clicks all came from visitors that wanted to see more of those nice little pigs, but after clicking on the (what appeared to be CORRESPONDING) links they found themselves on an advertiser's website (in which they might not have been interested). I know it's been their own fault, because they all should have read the words of the "corresponding" texts, but still... Besides, I don't really think it's fair that the advertisers are paying for these visitors' mistakes. _________________ Rens - www.HomeworkDatabase.com |

Most clicks are probably mistakes - do many people intentionally go to an advertisers site, which is most of the time trying to sell something to the visitor?
I'd prefer to have information, rather than a product. _________________ Football Rumours | Gloog |

Maybe they should be calling it the TTR. The Trick Through Rate.
I think it's skating pretty close to the edge, myself. Although the TOS specifically mentions ads directly above images,
it's clear that the intent is to forbid the appearance of association between ads and unrelated images.
If this becomes common practice, I'd expect that it would eventually be addressed specifically in the TOS. _________________

one thing to bear in mind is smart pricing. If your visitor click on the ad by "mistake", mostly likely your conversion rate will drop eventually... and then your CPC. _________________ Adsense Tips |

Check out damnsmalllinux.org .. There's a line of links right under the menu, which is designed the same. I clicked the ads by fault at least 3 times! _________________ "Circles have no end!"

I dont know if this elegal and how will google see it.
Also keep in mind that if a visitor want to see a pig and suddendly see something else will be disapointed. You dont want to do something like that to your visitors dont you? _________________ @@ Funny Earth @@
