The non-web people think it is a great idea if we make our links from ads we serve complete 2 actions with 1 click.<br />Firstly, a single click on an ad will serve client's content on our site and a split second later, open a new window with the client's homepage.<br />In theory this is great - we record the link to the client and serve the client's value-added page on our site.<br />This makes me very nervous as this is like the pop-up craze a few years ago. I think the new window may be killed by pop up blockers, or worse still our whole site flagged as a spammer.<br />Do you know of sites that successfully and elegantly complete 2 actions with 1 click or are we taking a big risk?<br />Thanks
This doesn't strike me as a very good idea.
As you mention, pop-up blockers (and some browsers' behaviour) could play hell with it.
And if you click an ad and see the advertiser's content- and then, hours later close your browser
and see phantom ad windows still lurking- you're going to feel somewhat abused by the site. _________________
