Hey there

Does anyone know how long it takes to get into DMOZ?

Thanks, Teeny

It will take quite long enough, about 2-4 weeks. What the most important thing for a website is : content. Keep it constantly update while you waiting.

Have a lot of patience as the interval apparently varies, depending on the subject area. As well, if they reject your site, (which happens a lot) they won't inform you.

I think there's an echo on this thread. Very Happy

A listing could take hours to well over 2 years; there are too many variants involoved to pin-point a specific time-frame.

I wrote an article titled: Getting listed in DMOZ. Not as easy as we'd like it to be.

You can read it here http://www.mr-seo.com/blog/2006/06/getting-listed-in-dmoz-not-as-easy-as.html

Thanks - is there any way of knowing if DMOZ rejects your submission - and what the reasons might be?

Teeny

wath if the editor in my category is someone of my competition (other company doing the same)??

I believe that something rare happens with my subscription to dmoz because months ago I introduced my site and it has been published never. I have published other sites in other categories and after 2 weeks they arein the directory without problems.

Rejection of a site mainly in DMOZ could be due to the wrong category for submission. If the category is not an exact one, it would be definitely rejected.

Yes this might be the reason or so but still it shouldn't take so much time for a site to be indexed.... it may go till a year or so

No it won't. If it's submitted to the wrong category then it'll be moved to the correct one, which could cause further delays with getting it reviewed.

FYI: Teeny, if the sites you're talking about are the ones in your signature, then I can already tell they're not going to be listed.

A very long time it may take you from 2 weeks to 2 years to even get reviewed.

If you submit it to the wrong category then one of Dmoz's human editors will move it to the correct category. Submitting it to the wrong category can cause delays in getting your site reviewed and listed, so try to submit it to the best possible category.
