I found a link to a new Gmail service. It allows for you to use Gmail for webmail on your site. It appears to be in closed beta right now. If anyone has any more info please share it.

It's been around for a while.
I have an invite for my domain, but it's not configured.

It offers a GMail service, but with your domain.
i.e. You get 2GB and the GMail interface, but it's configured for you@yourdomain.com instead of you@gmail.com

This would be useful for small companies who cannot afford huge data storage, but rely heavily on email. You get reliable email uptime, adquate space, and the ability to use Google's search to search emails.

Is it user invitation based like Gmail?

I'm very excited about this because currently I have to forward domain emails to Gmail and then use the "Send as" feature. This service would make things easier.

No, not that I know of.
You need to wait to receive an invitation.

Actually, this might not be for you. It's for companies and organizations who want to offer email to many users (distinct persons). The "Send as" feature is still the best way to go for a single user with multiple emails (and/or even multiple domains).

andrew247 is right: My dad has been using it for months, and I have an invite for one of my domains-- I just haven't set it up yet.

I was hoping to use this service alongside my existing work email, but due to wanting them side by side and not integrated at the current time it also means I do not want to change the MX Records - I am therefore unable to test this service at the current time.

Using Gmail under your domain Name [removed] A how to on using Gmails productivity and your work name combined to increase email effeciency.

[A free, reprinted article that basically says 'get a domain name, and forward it to Gmail', is not sufficient reason to post a link to your site here. -admin]

This google hosted mail is similar to the one offered by live.com (Microsoft).
I don't find it useful for business - It's unlike Gmail which allows you to use a email client such as Outlook to download and reply. Its purely webmail unless you forward it -too troublesome.

I need to keep a copy of all my emails on my PC - better control.
