| win 98 was workin perfectly but after i installed a few games and after uninstalling turned it off.when i started it again i got a black screen with abt 6 options like safe mode,command prompt and a suggestion to run in safe mode and scan reg.but this didnt work.it got stuck in the scanreg screen.then i tried start win normally but got a message that it might result in unstable system.so do i run it anyway or should i reinstall 98(i dont have my cd right now!)or is there some command prompt method which might work? |

Ok, then. Did you try just safe mode? You might want to reinstall all of your drivers if you can get in to safe mode. If this doesn't work, then yes, I would try rebuilding. |

Looks like I'm a little late to this thread, but the first thing to try is to choose "Command Prompt" on the boot menu, and the type "scanreg/restore" (without the quotes), to see if there is a working back-up.
