I have recently started my own SEO company and although I am achieving very good positions for my customers I am yet to see any really good results with my own site on Google, even though I have loads of high PageRank backlinks, I am thinking that my website my be sandboxed. Has anybody experienced this before? How long is it likely to last? My domain was registered at the end of July.

I have heard and read many things about the duration of the Google Sandbox, some people say that it's only 4-9 months other say it can be over a year.

To be honest no one really knows for a fact how long the Sandbox lasts, depending on how you managed your site(s), when google bot first visited, how many links you got and how quick, you could be looking upto 1 year and over or maybe just a few months.

Hello Elite,
The Sand Box effect is a theory - according to which website's with newly registered domains are placed in a sandbox (a holding area rather) by search engine (Google to be precise) untill a specific / appropriate time which the search thinks is to rank up the website..... It has been seen that amongst search engine's Google practises sandbox theory while Yahoo & MSN does not.......

Correct me if I'm wrong.........from what I understand here, people are saying All Newly Register Domains will be in the Google Sandbox for anything from about few months up to 1 year?

Does this mean the new domain is not being index during this Sandbox period?

When will the website be Rank Up? It is when it acheive certain amount of Hits? or have certain number of links etc? What is the condition for Rank Up?

What do you mean by Rank Up here? Do you mean the website is No more in the Sandbox and are eg in the Top 10 million website ?

Also this may be a theory only, and may not be exactly practise in Google ?

Thanks

Google is so secretive about the exact nature of its algorythms, that people have become almost superstitious in their varied interpretations.

Generally, it's better described as the "sandbox effect", as the result can be seen, but not the precise reasons behind it.

But yes, just about any newly-registered domain will experience this (at least if you're not a mega corporation), but it doesn't mean that you're not indexed. That can be done immediately.

It is just typical that a new site will initially receive a PR indicative of the best incoming links, then drop (sometimes to zero) for a number of months, and then receive a PR that is fairly indicative of the actual popularity of the site.

The best thing to do is read the great quantity of articles written on the subject, and work on improving your site.
But don't look for the exact answer to what Google is 'thinking'. There isn't one.

Are you saying Google First estimate how popular you site will be first and give you a PR..........then for don't know what reason(Only Google know!)Google just "drop" your PR like hot potato for some months to a year and then bring you site to the actual PR.
