Got one third of the way through the book and unfortuntely had to give it back to the library because of its high demand so I'm buying the book as soon as possible. I was glued to it. Are all the details in it true? like about the number PHI and stuff becuase that was facinating!!! don't you agree? Have you read his other book Angels and Demons?

PHI is a mathematical number, but it's relevance to the growth and beauty of humans is purely conspirical (<<don't know if that's a word  )
If you believe that Jesus was in love with Mary Magdalene, then I suppose you might consider believing phi in the context Dan Brown put it.

"Deception Point" and "Angels and Demons" were good, but I didn't like "Digital Fortress"
As for "the Davinci code" - Get Real!
Personally I just think Dan Brown hates the Catholic church. He didn't even come up with it, he read "The Holy Blood and the Holy Grail" and got the idea from that and decided to make it into his own story. |

The very fist line of the book is a some people believe absolute rubbish not true at all, I recently watched a programme called The real Da Vinci Code it was very interesting worth taking a look at. The whole things apparently came from a french priest who came into sudden wealth and hey presto rumors. In saying all this i haven't yet read the book. I suppose in a way its up to the individual to decide what they believe. in watching that programme I was thinking yea I want it to be truth it has very believable theories.

A lot of the things in the book have no proof e.g. The Priory of Zion. He received a letter from a guy who claimed it was real and a list of members. But then he sent another letter to him admitting he'd made it up but Dan Brown ignored it. And in the Last Supper painting the guy does look like a women, but the painter did paint a lot of men with feminine features. And even if it was a woman how can they be sure it was Mary Magdalene? It could be Jesus' mother for all they know.

It's an interesting story, and not a bad read. But yes, it's fiction.
As for his 'suggestion' that it is based on fact, it was a brilliant marketing ploy.
Good or bad, we're still talking about it.

| In my country because it is mostly catholic here, I heard that there are some actions to stop this movie to be shown here, I'm really hopeful that it won't happen, its just a fictional story |

Hello. I read the book and I like it a lot. It's very interesting and in spite of the critiques from the church, it's very close to the reality and made me think about the religion.
I don't belong to any religion but respect all them.
This movie is very controversial and maybe in some countries will be banned. In my country the majority of people is catholic and I hope they don't prohibit the movie because I really want to see it!
