Is there any way you should or shouldn't go about listing your site in directories?

For instance.... is it okay to use the same title/description for each directory or should you vary it?

Does it matter how many directories you submit to at once... or should you do a few at a time?

Any other ideas?

Thanks in advance to anyone with any insight!

It's upto you how many keywords you are targeting. if you are targeting multiple keywords then you can vary the title and description in various directories. But it's not necessary to differentiate the title and description for each directory.

Also afaik, it shouldn't matter how many directories you submit your site to at a time.

You don't really have to use different keywords and descriptions, but it's a good idea to vary them so you can get traffic from more than one search phrase.

Submit to as many directories as you can. I have yet to see any case where someone was actually penalized for too many directory links (lots of rumors, but haven't seen any proof yet.)

Keep in mind that not all of the directories will approve your link at the same time, so you really wouldn't be getting hundreds of links all at once.

I would focus on 4 or 5 different title/description combinations for each site. If your site is new, it may be wise to space your submission out over a longer period of time than to submit to them all at once.
