Google founders trim holdings

By Bloomberg News
February 16, 2005

Quote:
Google Inc. co-founders Larry Page and Sergey Brin each have sold 2.3 percent of their holdings in the company since its initial public offering in August.

Page owned 37.7 million shares of Google, the most-used search engine, as of Dec. 31, while Brin owned 37.6 million shares, according to regulatory filings today. That compares with Page's holding of 38.6 million shares and Brin's holding of 38.5 million shares before the IPO, according to Securities and Exchange Commission filings
.

The total holdings reported for Page and Brin include their Class A shares and Class B stock, the company said in filings with the SEC. The filings assume the conversion of the co- founders' Class B stock into Class A shares, the company said.

Google spokesman Steve Langdon declined to comment.

Google's Class B shares, which are mostly owned by the company's two founders, directors, executives and other employees, have 10 times the voting rights of Class A shares.

Shares of Google rose $2.24, to $195.23, in Nasdaq Stock Exchange composite trading
.
