I have a little rant: Almost every new thread posted these days has already been posted here before.
Why don't we use the search option and build stronger threads. It's annoying seeing the same topics in multiple places. This is a community of savvy web searchers, or else, I thought it was.

That makes sense. To a point.
I certainly think that more recent threads should be scanned in a category, before posting a topic, again.
But it's a forum, not an historical archive. Sometimes, bringing an old thread back to life just has the same material re-hashed that is already dated.
It's also occasionally useful to take a fresh look at a topic, without the burden of the extra deadwood that may have built up in an old thread.

On a similar note, I think "pointless" posts are down to the GC$ system. People post just to build up more GC$, which are actually now pretty redundant from what I've seen, as there's not much to "spend" them on. Any thoughts?

There's some hope that the lack of stuff to "spend" GC$ on will discourage pointless posts. On the other hand, I think we're still seriously considering doing away with GC$ altogether.

I don't know. I like the GC$ system. I don't see it as a reason to post, but it's something that is fun and unique to the GC forums that adds to its individual attractiveness.
The system could certainly be tweaked, and reviewed every now and then. I wouldn't mind seeing it removed from some forums altogether. It's kind of pointless in Games and Quizzes, where long ongoing threads are encouraged for their own sake.
GC$ earning rights could also be suspended, as an intermediate step to an outright ban, for members that persistently flaunt rules (a certain non-quoter comes to mind). This might have a self-disciplining effect that could cut down on some work for the mods and admins.
There are a lot of forums out there. I think a 'feature' that people associate with GC should not be dismissed lightly.

I think that the irritating "i agreez. googel roxxx!!!!!1111" posts should be banned and the posters hung drawn and quartered. What are you going to spend your hard-earned (scammed) GC$ on? English lessons? I very much doubt it.

I agree with longing for fresh spin on a topic, or maybe adding something new to one, but I doubt seriously the members who are duplicating take the time to READ the previous post anyways. Deadwood doesn't exist in their world,Lol If they are reading the previous posts and still choose to start the same one again they are members with "special needs" or something of that nature! It usually boils down to simple laziness
