Please don't hurl cries of "n00b!" in my general direction, but could somone please explain to me what IRC is, and how to use it (I've got myself a client thingy, ChatZilla!)

Hey n00b, hehe just kidding! 
Internet Relay Chat (IRC) is a form of instant communication over the Internet. It is mainly designed for group (many-to-many) communication in discussion forums called channels, but also allows one-to-one communication.

Ok, thanks for that. I've managed to get onto the server (by typing in /server irc.freenode.org), but how do I get into the channel (I've tried /channel #googlecommunity)?

/join #googlecommuity

Type this:
/msg nickserv register [password] [address@domain.ext]
And by the way, it registers the username you are using at the time of sending the message to the nickname operator. |
