Whats everyones opinion on Google IM? I thought it was a little basic. With it being under the Google name I was expecting a little more?

I prefer it being clean. It's an instant messenger, and it sends instant messages - 'nuff said 
Having said that, group conversations & customisable fonts would be handy, just so you know who's said what more easily!

Yeah, it just seemed to be lacking something?? Even in the Beta stages
Maybe I will try it again soon.
I use Yahoo and ICQ through Trillian. I point blank refuse to use MSN. There's just something about MSN that I don't like, and I can't put my finger on it, I'm sure someone else will for me though.

I think its great! One thing that I have learned to expect with google is that they like to take things one step at a time. I am sure that within a timely fashion they will be releasing a "Major" upgrade with all of the things that have been discussed. And most importantly they will find a way to integrate these features in a way that they will keep the program looking clean.
The biggest problem that I have at this point is getting people out of other Instant messengers over to Google. Hopefully they will develop the ability to have one screen name and sign on to every instant messenger program out there! |

When I downloaded it to see what it was like, I uninstalled it because I had no buddies 
My main reason for installing it though was just purely to see what it was like.

I really like it...Google takes things slowly which makes it better so they can improve on stuff before they make it public. Its basic yes but its only Beta and will improve...

| It's great I use it more then msn, but the interface could you a little touch-up and some sort of emotocon would be good, instead of blue similes. |

I like that it's simple and clean, it doesn't have a lot of junk that other IMs have. The audio quality is great, can hear it clearly unlike another IMs. I also like the Google mail notifier, which is handy if you use Google mail. There are a lot of features they are lacking though. It's real bugging still, sometimes you can't connect at all and I know it's not me because I have both DSL and dial-up. As another's have said there are not too many people to talk with on there.

i think it is abit too basic i like the layout and that stuff but there is lots they can improve on.

It rocks - it's quick, clean and easy. No junk / smileys / ads everywhere - just how I like it :-)
