Heh, good one.
And it applies equally to any other profession or trade, and the value that 'friends' can see in your work.
I recently had a friend ask fo my help with fixing-up an old wooden sailboat (translation = "please do this for me because you can and I can't").
It was in pretty bad shape. I scraped and sanded the old finish, repaired damaged sections of wood, and rebuilt some others that were beyond repair. Cleaned and restored hardware, and applied six coats of marine varnish. Probably spent about 60 hours, altogether, on the project.
When it was finished, I jokingly pointed out that, had I been working for a client, I'd be enjoying a rather fat paycheque for my efforts.
His reply? "Well, I did buy the beer!".

I completely agree with this, to me it seems as some people just think they can get everything for free and give nothing in return, it's like when people ask me on the net if I can help them, sure I'll help them to a certain extent but I cant help everybody for free as I would lose a lot of time that could be spent in better ways (i.e. Studies)
